inside books project

This summer we began a new partnership with Inside Books Project - they are staffing the store on Sundays and taking home 100% of the proceeds on those days. It has been a huge success and we've been able to increase our financial contributions to the project by over 10 times!

We are, of course, always scheming and dreaming about how to generate more income (while keeping prices low) so that we can give even more away, but in the meantime, it's really wonderful to find ways to help the Inside Books Project send more free books to Texas prisoners.

Skillshare Austin aims to build community self-reliance, increasing the ability to live creatively & sustainably through engaging in hands-on educational experiences. Skillshare does this through regularly scheduled workshops at diverse locations around Austin.

Treasure City will be holding a special Shopping Benefit Night on Saturday, May 26, from 6 - 9 p.m.! All sales made during this time will go directly to Skillshare Austin!

In addition, all of the money collected in the donation jar by the register in May will go directly to Skillshare. Treasure City prices are low, if you're able, please consider supplementing these prices by making a donation when you're checking out.

"i ♥ treasure city thrift" print contest

Treasure City Thrift invites you to participate in “I ♥ Treasure City Thrift" Print Contest. The purpose of the contest is to engage and promote local DIY/razquache artists and designers from the Austin community.

This contest is open to all local artists and designers.

Artists will submit up to 3 digital images to Treasure City Thrift for consideration by a panel of jurors made up of Treasure City Thrift Collective members and community members.

All artwork needs to include the phrase: “Treasure City Thrift” or “I ♥ Treasure City Thrift”.

The first place winner will have their artwork featured on the Treasure City Thrift website and screened on t-shirts and made into prints; in addition, the winner will receive a gift certificate to Treasure City Thrift!

Deadline for all submissions: June 17, 2012.

Winner announced, Print event and T-shirts on sale July 13, 2012.
